Case Study: PRINTING United Digital Experience

The PRINTING United Alliance have been a Shepard customer for 17 years. During that time, we have been the contractor for their annual event, PRINTING United, the largest printing equipment show in North America. We provide all general contracting services for their exposition: 395,000 net sq ft with over 3 million lbs. of freight. We also provide all audio-visual services for the expo floor, breakouts, and general session, as well strategic/creative consulting services to their executive team.

At the end of June, after consulting with their participant audience and exhibitors/sponsors, they decided to pursue a digital option to the in-person event. Our Shepard LiveEX team presented a concept for the event that would serve to showcase the newest innovations from the printing industry’s equipment OEMs along with editorial/informational programming that would be generated by their publishing division, NAPCO Media. It was a newsmagazine format that would be broadcast during a 4-week period.

Our primary role was as video content creator and producer of the completed shows. In all, we created (60) manufacturer video demos, and produced (14) shows equaling 36 hours of television programming. We shot & edited videos, wrote scripts for our professional host, and created the final programming.

Our client built their own platform comprised of Map Your Show, Brightcove, and a custom-built web front-end. Map Your Show provided virtual booths for the manufacturers on their platform. The show ends on Thursday 12 November. So far, the data shows that the effort has been overwhelmingly successful for PRINTING United Alliance and their OEM partners/exhibitors.
