Did you know that the Exhibitions and Events industry accounts for 600,000 tons of garbage waste each year? That’s second only to the construction industry!
At Shepard, we take industry sustainability seriously, and that includes giving back to our environment by working towards creating more sustainable business practices each year.
In May 2018, Shepard became the first General Service Contractor within the industry to become certified by the Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Partnership. The SGP Partnership is a non-profit certification program created for printing facilities in all industries. The organization promotes best practices in sustainability for printing operations by considering environmental factors in the entire facility, including processes and product sustainability at all stages of printing.
All 8 Shepard branches are SPG certified, and, in addition to our certifications, we continue to work towards reducing our waste and carbon footprint by making significant operational changes each year.
Next steps for our 2019 sustainability efforts include working on alternative solutions for commercial transportation and implementing a new standard operating procedure for better recycling practices and waste reduction on show-site.
