Over the past few years we’ve seen the trend of quiet, spa-like spaces take hold at events and trade shows with the goal of providing participants an opportunity to retreat and relax. Recently, we saw a similar, but opposite approach… a bold and funky space designed to retreat and energize.
Last month we attended Refinery29’s 29 Rooms touring activation, where they created 29 unique spaces to engage participants in new ways. One of the more memorable spaces for our team was the Dance Break space. This 20×60 walled-in space featured a live DJ, disco ball, neon lights, silver streamers, and funky décor. The room invited participants in to dance for as little or long as they liked during the activation. The crowd was laughing, cheering fellow attendees on, and requesting songs for the DJ—there was energy and smiles all around.
This activation isn’t intended for every demographic or industry and noise should be considered in determining if it’s a good fit for your event, but if you are looking for energizing and #shareable moments, this is a great option to explore.
